Thanks to your prayers, all 36 team members returned safely and in good health after walking nearly 20,000 steps today. We are deeply grateful for your prayers!
ABYSTE NA BETLÉM LÁSKAVÍ BYLI ("베들레헴을 사랑으로 대하라." )
We begin today's journal with a photo of the bronze plaque on the wall of Bethlehem Chapel, engraved with Jan Hus's last words: ABYSTE NA BETLÉM LÁSKAVÍ BYLI — "Be loving to Bethlehem." Today, we followed in the footsteps of the man who proclaimed God's Word from this very pulpit over 600 years ago.
We begin and end each day with worship. This morning, we opened with Romans 12:2.
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will." — Romans 12:2
Pastor Son explained that Romans 12:1 — "offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God" — is a single-sentence summary of the entire gospel declared throughout Romans chapters 1 through 11. Building on that, verse 2 compresses the life of a true worshiper into two powerful words.
"Conform" comes from the Greek syschēmatizō — fitting yourself into a mold, shaping yourself after the patterns around you, unknowingly pressing yourself into the values and desires of this age. "Renewing," on the other hand, comes from the Greek kainos — not a minor adjustment, but a transformation of your very essence. Like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, becoming something so completely different that the old form is no longer recognizable.
Remarkably, the streets of Prague we walked today were the very ground where this Word came alive.
In the 15th century, the church was selling indulgences, colluding with power, and locking Scripture behind the Latin language — confining the Word of God within the mold of human authority. But Jan Hus spent his entire life crying out one thing: not human authority, but back to Scripture.
He was a man who refused syschēmatizō, and a worshiper who lived out kainos transformation with his whole being. And that transformation did not stop with one man — it became a force that shook the history and the church of all of Europe.
Silicon Valley and Prague alike constantly hold out the mold of this age. Success, efficiency, personal branding, visible influence. Walking the cobblestones of Prague, we found ourselves asking: have we unknowingly pressed ourselves into that mold? Just as Hus cleared away the human frameworks covering the Word and returned to Scripture, we too desire to lay down the mold of this age and fix our eyes on Jesus alone, on the Word alone.
Sola Scriptura!
We long to live as worshipers so transformed that this age no longer recognizes us — testing and approving each day what God's good, pleasing, and perfect will truly is.
We shared the grace we received as we meditated on today's memory verse — Micah 2:13, the theme verse of NCBC this year — alongside 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Romans 12:2 from yesterday.
God knew we would be walking outside for hours today, and He gave us the most beautiful weather. Our first destination was Prague Castle — a complex built up over more than a thousand years, from the 9th century to the 20th, by kings, emperors, and archbishops layer by layer. Prague Castle was not merely a royal palace; it was the arena where, in Hus's time, secular imperial power and ecclesiastical power truly collided.

St. Vitus Cathedral stands as a symbol of Catholic authority — the very seat where the Archbishop held dominion in Hus's day. Hus stood against that entire power structure, declaring that neither the Pope nor the Archbishop could stand above Scripture
Built over centuries, the cathedral overwhelmed us with its Gothic spires and magnificent stained glass. From the entrance doors to every corner inside, the walls were filled with icons of Jesus and the apostles. It must have been centuries of splendor accumulated to capture the hearts of those without faith.
The photograph below shows the silver tomb of St. Jan Nepomucký inside St. Vitus Cathedral.
Jan Nepomucký was a 14th-century Bohemian priest who refused to reveal the contents of the queen's confession to King Wenceslas IV — the very king who reigned during Hus's time — and was thrown from the Charles Bridge into the Vltava River as a martyr. The Catholic Church canonized him as a saint, and his tomb is adorned with silver angels weighing a total of 2 tons.

Standing before that splendor, a question quietly arose within us: behind all of this, where was true faith?
Standing before a two-ton silver altar, the words of Peter came back to us: "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you."
Surrounded by gold-covered altars and silver statues, that Word became more vivid and deeply engraved in our hearts. That the worship Jan Hus sought to offer was not silver or gold, but standing before the Word at the cost of his life — this became even clearer when we visited Bethlehem Chapel next.
The moment we stepped inside Bethlehem Chapel, the contrast with St. Vitus Cathedral was felt in every part of us. No gold, no silver, no elaborate icons. White walls, wooden chairs, and a pulpit placed low and close to the congregation. That was all.
Bethlehem Chapel was built in 1391 for one single purpose: to proclaim the gospel in the Czech language. In an age when Mass was conducted only in Latin, this space was built from the very beginning to bring the Word to people in their own tongue.

The architecture itself was a confession of faith. Instead of a grand altar, the pulpit stood at the center — the place from which the Word would be declared. And that pulpit was placed close to the congregation, where nobles and commoners sat together. The very structure embodied Hus's conviction that the Word did not belong to distant authorities, but to the people gathered right here in this place.
Jan Hus was appointed preacher of this chapel in 1402 and stood at this pulpit every week for 13 years, until shortly before his execution in 1415. In this chapel, nobles and commoners alike gathered to hear sermons in Czech. Wishing that no one would be left out of the gospel, Hus painted Scripture passages and illustrations directly on the walls for those who could not read. Some of those murals remain today in restored form, carrying the traces of the Word that rang out in this very space over 600 years ago.
If St. Vitus Cathedral showed the way of approaching God through authority, Bethlehem Chapel showed the way of approaching God through the Word.
전도사님의 하모니카 연주에 맞춰 팀원들과 함께 God is so good을 찬양했습니다.
We gathered and worshiped together to the sound of Yoon JDSN's harmonica playing God Is So Good, the melody quietly filling Bethlehem Chapel.
Over 600 years ago, something was preserved here at the cost of a man's life. That today we can read Scripture in our own language, hear the Word up close, and come directly before God — none of this was obvious or guaranteed in his day.
그런데 그 자리에서 우리가 부른 찬양이 God is so good 이었습니다.
And the song we sang in that very place was God Is So Good. God is good. That He placed Hus in that moment, that He did not let his death be in vain, that 600 years later we could stand in this space and freely worship — all of it was the goodness of God.
In this simple chapel, the hand of God working through history felt clearer than anywhere else we had been.
After the worship, we prayed and declared together in that place. We interceded for the land of Czech — once set ablaze with the fire of the gospel, now one of the least evangelized countries in Europe. We declared that the Word Hus proclaimed from this pulpit would ring out again across this land, that the spirit of that reformation would not remain merely as history but be restored as a living revival.

According to tradition, Hus said before the flames: "Today you burn a goose, but in a hundred years a swan will arise that you will neither be able to roast nor boil." And exactly 102 years later, Luther nailed his 95 Theses.

Entering the Old Town Square, where construction was underway ahead of Easter, the Gothic spires of Týn Church rose up before us first. And standing before it was the statue of Jan Hus — facing the very church that was once the stronghold of the Hussite movement, now standing as a Catholic cathedral. Six hundred years have passed, but that gaze still seemed to say something.
On one side of the square stood the astronomical clock, built in 1410 — the very era when Hus was preaching in this city.

On either side of the clock stand four moving statues: Vanity, Greed, Death, and Pleasure. When the skeleton rings the bell each hour, the other three figures shake their heads — a sign that they are not yet ready to die.
But the very moment the skeleton strikes, the windows above open and the twelve apostles appear. Death rings first, and then the eyewitnesses of Christ's resurrection follow. The apostles gave their lives for that testimony. What they proclaimed was one thing: that death is not the end, and that the One who conquered death is real.
It is only when we allow our old selves to die and become new that we truly begin to hear — and to live — that testimony.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Vanity, greed, and pleasure all pass away in Christ, and the new comes. For 600 years, this clock has been repeating the same message, hour by hour, in the square of Prague.
We crossed the Charles Bridge to close out the day's pilgrimage. Thirty statues of saints line both sides of the bridge, said to represent the great figures of European and world history who moved and changed the world for the better.
What is striking is that most of these 30 statues were erected after the Battle of White Mountain in 1620 — a battle in which the Bohemian Protestant forces were utterly defeated by the Habsburg Catholic army in just two hours, overturning in a single day 200 years of reformation that the Hussites had fought to preserve. The following year, 27 Hussite leaders were publicly executed in the Old Town Square. The Habsburg power and the Jesuits then filled this bridge with statues of saints as they re-Catholicized the city.
And yet, walking across this bridge, one thought would not leave us: 30 statues stand in a row, but today the Czech Republic is one of the most secularized nations in Europe. The faith carved in stone remains — but living faith has disappeared. What Hus gave his life to protect was not stone statues, but the living faith of people standing before the Word.
Standing on the Charles Bridge, gazing out over the Vltava River, we found ourselves praying — that living faith would be restored to this land once more.
Back at the hostel, Pastor Son walked us through the history of Jan Hus's reformation and what followed.
Why did Hus's reformation die out, while Luther's carried on? Pastor Son pointed to one of the key differences: people. God's will is great — but the way He chooses to carry it out has always been through people.
The Word we memorized together today echoes again in our hearts:
One who breaks open the way will go up before them… their King will pass through before them, the Lord at their head." — Micah 2:13
The Lord goes ahead. But there must be people following — people whose hearts are united.
NCBC is praying for the Vision Center and the next generation. The vision is from God, but holding it together and pressing forward is our part. Walking the cobblestones of Prague today, our hearts ached — because the city of Hus was quietly telling us: without revival in this generation, there will be no revival in the next.
We do not want to be conformed to this age. We want to be broken first. Reformation does not begin outside. It must begin within us. We pray earnestly that we would walk together in unity on the road where the Lord goes ahead.

We walked nearly 20,000 steps together across the cobblestones of Prague today, and we give thanks to God for bringing every one of us home safely.
What we are especially grateful for is this: three team members who are over 85 years old walked with more energy and joy than anyone else. Isaiah 40:31 came alive before our eyes through them.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.
